What brought you to Centennial College?
I came to Centennial College with a dream of building a new life in Canada and a desire to grow both personally and professionally. As a newcomer, I was looking for a place that would not only provide quality education, but also a welcoming community where I could belong, connect, and learn from diverse perspectives. Centennial’s reputation for hands-on learning, strong industry connections, and its inclusive, supportive environment made it the perfect place to start my journey.
Tell us about your favourite Centennial College experience?
My favourite Centennial College experience was the sense of community I felt from day one. I’ll never forget walking into my first class, surrounded by people from so many different backgrounds, all eager to learn and support one another. The collaborative projects, hands-on learning, and the encouragement from my professors gave me the confidence to step outside my comfort zone. One of the highlights was participating in events and volunteer opportunities through the college—these experiences not only sharpened my skills but also helped me build lasting friendships and professional connections. Centennial didn’t just give me an education; it gave me a network and a sense of belonging that continues to shape my career today.
What impact has Centennial College had on your life?
Centennial College was more than just a place to study—it was the foundation for the life I’ve built here in Canada. As a newcomer 9,000 miles from home, Centennial gave me the skills, confidence, and connections I needed to find my place in a new country. The supportive professors, hands-on learning, and opportunities to get involved in the community helped me discover my passion for volunteering and the events industry—something that continues to shape my career today. The lessons I learned inside the classroom and the relationships I built outside of it have stayed with me, guiding me in every professional and personal milestone since.
What are you up to now?
Today, I’m proud to be working as the National Account Manager at BBW International Event Staff, where I get to combine my passion for people, community, and creating memorable experiences. Beyond my role, I’m actively involved in several industry associations, giving back through volunteer work—something that brings me so much joy and purpose.
This year has been especially meaningful—I was honoured to receive Meeting Professionals International’s Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award and to be named one of the top three finalists for Hall of Fame – Industry Volunteer of the Year out of a record-breaking 100+ nominations.
It’s a full-circle moment for me—just a few years ago, I arrived in Canada with a dream, and now I’m able to contribute to an industry and community that welcomed me with open arms.
